How it works & pricing
Understand what Energy does, how delegation works and what makes up the price. For steps, see the Quickstart.
What Energy does
TRON transactions use network resources:
| Resource | Purpose | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Bandwidth | Transaction data, including TRX and USDT transfers | Insufficient free or staked quota may result in TRX charges |
| Energy | Contract execution, including TRC20 transfers such as USDT | Rentals add available Energy; a shortfall may still result in TRX charges |
GasTank currently rents Energy only, without Bandwidth. Paying for a rental and sending later transactions may still incur network fees. Check your wallet preview.
USDT Energy consumption depends on contract state. Common reference estimates are around 65,000 if the recipient already holds USDT and around 131,000 if they do not. These are estimates, not fixed costs for every transfer, and are separate from TRON account activation.
The delegation process
The platform supplies Energy through its TRON Stake 2.0 staking pool:
- Choose an amount and period. Enter the wallet that will send the transfer or call the contract.
- When signed out, request a transfer quote and pay its exact TRX amount to the specified address and network. When signed in, request a balance quote and confirm the account hold.
- After transfer payment confirmation or acceptance of a balance order, the platform processes delegation according to available resources. Track progress on the order page and verify confirmed records on Tronscan for the matching network.
- The period starts after delegation confirmation. Reclaim is scheduled at expiry, without automatic renewal or charging.
Both use the same quantity, duration and address form on Rent energy. No account is required for transfer payments. Signed-in customers use account balance without a separate transfer for each order. No wallet connection, private key or recovery phrase is required. Delegation still requires chain confirmation.
If your balance is insufficient, recharge from the console; payment does not automatically switch to a TRX transfer. Balance orders first hold the quoted fees. Rental fees are charged after delivery; activation fees are charged separately after successful platform activation. Definitive failures release unused holds, while completed activation fees remain charged. Check the original request when the outcome is uncertain instead of placing another order.
Price and amount due
Rent is calculated from the Energy amount, period and current pricing rules. The page shows an estimate first and the final amount after quote creation.
This is an illustrative example, not a live quote: 131,000 Energy for 1 hour.
| Method | Example Energy cost |
|---|---|
| Burn TRX at 100 sun per Energy | 13.1 TRX |
| Example rental price | 4.6 TRX |
This compares Energy only, saving about 65% in the example. It excludes the payment transaction, Bandwidth and activation. Network fees, usage and prices can change.
The final amount may include:
- Rent for the selected quantity and duration.
- Activation, if needed: for an inactive wallet, current chain parameters determine the account creation and creation Bandwidth fees, plus 0.1 TRX transferred into the wallet. The quote budgets the Bandwidth burn rather than relying on available staked Bandwidth. The accepted fee is locked at order placement, with no later surcharge. Active wallets pay no activation fee.
- A payment-matching adjustment for transfers, if needed: the system may allocate an exact amount slightly above the base quote to distinguish pending payments. Balance payments do not use this adjustment.
Check all amounts on the quote confirmation. Wallet or exchange transfer fees are separate. Transfer quotes default to 2 hours and balance quotes to 5 minutes; check the expiry shown for your quote.
Choosing a rental period
Choose a window covering when you expect to transact. A short period is usually sufficient for one transfer. For repeated operations, consider both consumption and recovery; extending the period alone does not guarantee enough Energy.
Consumed Energy recovers gradually. The total reusable amount depends on usage timing and recovery progress; a 24-hour rental does not guarantee double the quantity. A longer rental can cost more than directly sending one transaction. Compare the full cost with your wallet preview.
Why transfer payment amounts must match
Payments are matched to quotes by amount. Use the specified network and payment address, and ensure the amount actually received exactly matches the payment card. Do not round or combine payments for different quotes.
For exchange withdrawals, check whether fees are deducted from the amount, and whether precision and timing meet the quote requirements.
Keep the order link and payment transaction hash. If status does not update, do not send a top-up or pay again. Check on-chain records and request a check through the channels published on the contact page. There are no automatic refunds or guaranteed refunds or replacement delivery. Funds sent to a wrong address may not be recoverable.

Optional Bandwidth
The shared rental form defaults to Energy only. Enable “Also rent Bandwidth” and enter an explicit quantity when needed; API clients use bandwidth_amount. Bandwidth has its own price and shares the Energy rental duration. Delivery and charges are confirmed separately. Partial delivery charges only successful components; failed balance components are released, and anonymous payment remainders require manual support handling. Unknown transactions remain pending verification.
Energy and Bandwidth rental fees are each rounded up to 0.01 TRX. All fees are confirmed when you request a quote.
